After last years classic wimbledon, this year can’t be more compelling can it ?

Roger is brimming with confidence
he lifted more than a trophy at the french he lifted a huge weight off his shoulders ...
will he now be less focused?
will a rested rafa be ready to recover from the unlikely defeat on clay ?
will andy (the brat) murray be ready to give the home town fans a champion ?

are Venus or Serena really motivated to win ?

I know this falls on deaf ears, but 2 very intriguing matches take place tomorrow

del potro and hewitt the young gun verse his idol and ex champion

and andy murray against ernst gulbis

the hope of the british people against the unpredictable, but uber talented gulbis

on a side note the beautiful gisela dulko is through to the next round after dismissing maria sharapova te amo te amo ms dulko

I like the idea of tennis, but can’t say I’ve ever watched it. I support your enthusiasm, though.

weel the time has come to crown champions this weekend ....

the williams sisters will battle on saturday and I think venus still has the edge
she is dictating play so early in the point ...

fed goes for his 15th gs title breaking sampras record of 14 ....

if fed keeps playing relaxed and fluid and serves as well as he has
there is nothing roddick can do to change the outcome

i expect fed to raise another trophy

.... no contest Venus is the hotter sistah by far !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw .... Fed won his 15th gs title breaking the record held by sampras ....

not only was the wimby crown determined, but andy roddick did as much for hie legacy as you could do without winning .... arod held serve to 15 14 in the 5th against the greatest player of all time .... that says something about his metttle ......

lets hope that arod can get another crown in ny he deserves it

I actually watched some of the tournament this year and was highly impressed with the efficiency of their instant replay.  No more than 10 seconds.  I really wish baseball would embrace this technology.  The biggest negative I’ve heard from the baseball purists is that they’ve worked so hard to shorten games, that additional use of replay would hinder that progress.  I disagree, especially seeing what tennis has done.  Maybe they could give a pitcher a ‘pitch clock’ to speed up the game a bit and more than cancel out the extra time from replay.

you would have to be very careful about opening up the can of worms on instant replays in baseball .... I think maybe for errors on home runs or foul pole issues ... otherwise there can be close plays every inning and could really hinder the game ..... you are on the money with some sort of pitch clock .... if the pitcher wasn’t set to throw before the clock ran out it is an automatic ball call ... though this discussion should be in the baseball section .....
