I am but a poor man with barely the funds to survive and enjoy life a bit so when I encounter an opportunity to assist something worthwhile and it costs nothing, I try to jump in with both feet. So, here I am typing on the newest version of Firefox in hopes I may make some small contribution to this open source browser that I have used now for several years.  As of this writing I have found nothing to report in the fixit department.

It looks like they’ve taken a lot of ideas from Chrome, specifically the “Improved tools for controlling your private data, including a Private Browsing Mode.” Maybe this will launch a browser-development war that will finally leave IE in the dust.

The amount of personal info that FF 3.0 saves is very concerning to me! Opera 10 might be a better choice if you care about your privacy.

With respect to your wise council, I have read just the opposite, that both Chrome and Firefox are safer browsers.  But I guess geeks can’t agree on everything any more than politicians, not to suggest there are any other similarities.

I have wandered long in the wilderness seeking exactly the right tools but things keep changing so fast it’s difficult to know where to put one’s eggs. Firefox feels good to me so I keep going back to it.
Chrome is a handy quick search tool but Firefox is my home base.

I haven’t gone back since I installed Chrome—it’s an amazing browser—but Firefox is a close second. If I was more into plugins and stuff, maybe I’d prefer Firefox.

Microsoft has a new browser in the pipeline called Gazelle, should make things interesting. Not sure how the browsers(Gazelle) OS will compare to Chromes sandbox. Does the new Firefox have a sandbox?

Interesting. Yet, I’m skeptical of anything Microsoft is going to do to manage my computer’s resources, even in a browser, after how badly Vista did it.

I’ve been using Firefox 3.5 beta for a couple of weeks (it is the default browser in Fedora 11), and it is quite nice.  It is fast, clean, and lean, and has a few new tricks in its repertoire.  I wouldn’t worry about the issue of it storing personal data, as you can tell it to save as much or as little as you wish.

I’ve been a die-hard Firefox fan since it was called Phoenix many years ago.  However, I do study all the browsers as they come out due to the nature of my work, and can see why people prefer other browsers.  Overall, there have been great strides of improvement made across the browser industry the last 3 years.

That said, FF does it for me because of the extensions.  There are so many great extensions that other browsers just can’t hold a candle to Firefox.  Firefox 3.5 keeps the lead.

I feel the same way about the fox.  3.5, the final version, will be released end of the month.

I do sometimes use Chrome but mostly for it’s Gmail desktop app which works the best of any link to Gmail.

Ran into a glitch when I tried to run 3.5 as an update.  I ended up needing to remove the older version first.  Very strange thing happened.  After I ran my CCLeaner yesterday I couldn’t sign into one of my web pages.  It wouldn’t even recognize my email address yet I could sign in trouble free on Chrome. So I dumped the older version.  Got suspicious about it all when somebody on a forum complained a bunch of his add ons didn’t work on 3.5.  When I did the fresh download I noticed it right away.
