Piffy do you want a spokes model to take your appendix out?..No! You want a guy that’s going to do a good job..Running a state..is at least as complex..we need to stop this popularity contest crap and actually find folks that can and will do a good job…

I’m an RN..The state boards to become an RN are really tough..1out of 5 can’t pass it…when I go for a job I’m tested to see if I know all the latest meds, their side effects, Their interactions with other medication, how to measure and administer the meds…There are very few Bozo RNs out there…most the time when you are being assessed by an RN you are working with a very well educated health care provider..Why should a politician not be held higher standards…

If a nurse were to leave her patients unattended for 4 days..while visiting her boyfriend in Argentina…She would not only be fired on the spot..she would be arrested for Patient Abandonment..

Sarah is exactly what she appears to be..a spokes model…She’s getting a lot of attention and she’s afraidof the fact that she’s an uninformed bimbo.. She’s getting out while she can..

Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies - or else? The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.

I loved this list of possible scenarios for Sarah’s loony departure.

Again, anything is possible, since she’s ga-ga, but this really felt to me like a very swift withdrawal to avoid what might be an almighty shoe about to fall to earth.

What could that shoe be? Some unknown ethics inquiry? Some big official scandal about to break? The free house-construction no-one quite resolved? Trooper Wooten’s revenge? Bristol can’t take the bullshit any more and has sold a tell-all? Levi just got a lot of money from the Enquirer? Sherri Johnston has implicated a Palin in her drug-bust? Did Track get in trouble again? Is there another unplanned pregnancy somewhere? Someone took a hike on the Appalachian trail? Has Lyda Green finally gone nuclear? Has Mercedes got a book contract?  Or has she pushed Levi one step too far? Is Trig really Tina Fey’s child?

Would we even be talking about the lovely Sarah if she wasn’t such a sassy, sexy, spokes model..?

She was a vice-presidential candidate, and possible will be a presidential candidate, so yes.

The United States Census Bureau, as of July 1, 2008, estimated Alaska’s population at 686,293
Charlotte has a population of 2,566,399 in 2009.  Most of the state is unpopulated or empty like her head.  She was a vice presidential candidate and as such no doubt helped sink old man McCain.  She can run, sure enough, but so can Ron Paul, doesn’t mean either will even get the nomination.

If the Republican Party wishes to survive it needs to make one giant step toward the center of the political spectrum and that precludes nominating a religious right gun loving hockey mom.  This fine looking lady represents a dying breed still desperately trying to hold on to the past.

I hope you’re right, but i think you’re wrong

Do you suppose McCain took on Palin so as to assure he would not get elected and stuck with the blame for the economy? and at the same time, winning credibility with the ‘wingnut’ side of the Republican party who have always disliked him? just a thought…

The Republican Party will survive and return to power only if it does exactly the opposite of what you propose. Conservatives need to stop focusing on what Obama and the Democrat Party does, give them enough rope to hang themselves and rebuild their party as a conservative organization focused on the ideology of conservatism. The Goldwater campaign in 1964 did it. The Reagan campaign in 1976 did it leading to his election in 1980. We had 12 years of autocrat Bush years as bookends to the centrist moderate Clinton years. We have not had a conservative Presidency since Reagan left office.

We have never had what I would call a truly Liberal president and I kind of doubt Reagan was a true Conservative

Reagan’s speeches abounded with themes that were anything but conservative. He aligned the Republican crusader more closely with America’s expansive liberal temperament. In particular, his brand of evangelical Christianity, combined with fragments of Puritanism, enlightenment optimism, and romantic liberalism, set Reagan apart in key ways from historic conservatism.

And yet you and the rest of the Republican Army supported those “autocrats” tooth and nail as being representatives of the “Conservative Agenda”, all the while painting that “centrist” Clinton as a “Left wing Socialist”.

hmmmmmm.

Yeah, it’s really hard to paint Reagan as a conservative in any literal sense of the word. Unless “conservative” means basically “popular Republican.”

By which I mean: There’s nothing conservative about using drug money to finance illegal wars, or trading arms for hostages, causing a massive recession in the early 1980s (with a HIGHER unemployment rate than we’ve got now, in fact, maxing at 10.8%) due to faulty supply-side economics thinking that was anything but conservative (in the literal sense of the word), holding fast to policies that directly created the Savings & Loan scandals (also anything but conservative economics), all but creating the 1987 stock-market crash through intentional deregulation, and more than quadrupling the national debt ($700 billion to $3 trillion, again, hardly in line with anything easily characterized as conservative). And that’s just off the top of my head.

I’d argue that America hasn’t had a truly conservative president in quite some time—maybe Ike was the last one—and that most of the people wearing the “conservative” label pin are anything but. Strictly speaking, Ron Paul is the only person who even ran last time that even had a tinge of actual conservative ideology to him.

Not quite. I voted for Bush not because he was conservative (he wasn’t) but because of who he was running against. I have never regarded Clinton as a left wing socialist.
