It is my belief that you stated your opinion in your original post: “As far as I can tell, the benefits far outweigh the bump in taxes.” That did not sound like a question to me, but I could be wrong.
Actually, you’re completely wrong, or simply being intentionally obtuse because you want to argue with someone. I wrote ...
What’s the argument against annexation, exactly? As far as I can tell, the benefits far outweigh the bump in taxes.
The first sentence is CLEARLY a question. The second sentence is CLEARLY dependent on the first, stating and clarifying my reason for asking the question.
Over they years surfing the ‘net, I have noticed, a common practice of anonymous “experts” rather quickly resort to “name calling,” “read the rules,” “it’s a free blog,” “I can say what I want” etc etc when they are questioned or called out to actually defend their position. I think you have given a good example on all counts.
My “position” is asking people to explain something. I don’t have a strong opinion on the annexation, other than a vague sentiment that I’m not specifically against it. Additionally, I’m not “anonymous,” since I’m posting here under my actual name. You are posting anonymously, however. Also it’s my job to let people know when they’re crossing a line on these forums—exactly what you did when you took up a hostile tone with me for no reason—and it’s also my job to enforce the forum’s rules. If you don’t like it, don’t feel compelled to post here.
Therefore, if you think I attacked you, I’m sorry you feel that way. Like you, I’m just a curious blogger, asking a simple question.
Meh. I’d argue that you’re spoiling for a fight. You’re also doing so with a group of people who aren’t particularly—or even remotely—passionate about the subject, so it’s really in your best interest to cool off.
Thus, my question to you, again, is; where and what are these benefits that I’m suppose to enjoy paying a “bump” in my taxes for? And my original question was: “How much research have you done on the subject? Did you rent or own property when you lived in Woodfin?
Who cares? I rented if you’re just desperate to know. All I wanted was for Anti-Forced to explain what the issues were. He did. My personal curiosity in the subject was satisfied as soon as he responded. End of story as far as I’m concerned.
