Something to bring warm and fun thoughts to late January…

Here’s a hot stove question for you. What local festivals or events are you looking forward to most in the coming months?

There’s a very similar thread named Outdoor music festivals posted under Music. Are you talking about music events or just festivals in general, such as Bele Chere?

Didn’t know about the other thread...let’s make this about OBSCURE fests, events, activities, shows, etc.--not necessarily music--that don’t get a lot of publicity. The odd, weird, strange, little things that not everyone might have heard about. How’s that?

Ahhh, like the Festival of the Raptor Jesus?  Oh, wait… that won’t start until 2013.

I’d love to hear about more quirky little fests like the Fringefest that just went on and other smaller event.

I am looking forward to next year’s Zombie Walk - the trudge from the Riverside Cemetary to Pritchard Park as bloody, meat-craving zombies.  It’s so cool!

Is Asheville going to be included again as one of the cities participating in the World Naked Bike Ride?

Yeah, that’s exactly the type I mean, Zen. And the Naked Bike Ride, too.

It’s too bad there’s not a catch-all calendar somewhere with the little events that are unique and sometimes the most fun and worthwhile.

I guess you can spot them, if you look closely, in the XPress listings, but I’d be helpful to have a comprehensive list for the entire year printed well in advance.
