Any list that puts the Avett Bros at number two and neglects Tom Waits is pure bunkum…No wonder I can’t listen to that station for more than 5 minutes.
well, to be fair, it is a list chosen by the listeners and I don’t think Waits was an option. But have you ever heard Tom Waits on any radio station? I’m pretty sure I haven’t.
I like the fact that WNCW is even out there. There are only a handful of independent radio stations left broadcasting. And even though I don’t listen any more due to ipods and bit torrents, their playlist is better than anything for hundreds of miles around. Yeah, the heavy rotation of singer/songwriter is annoying as hell. But they give an outlet to local acts that just isn’t available anywhere else. And hell, I heard my friend’s band, this small old-timey band (Mighty Ghosts of Heaven), from Portland, OR playing one day.
The playlist from 2 o’clock this morn…
