Just thought this might be a good place to come up with ideas that might make the Forums more user friendly.
I’ll start.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could ‘see’ all of the threads under a sub-forum when you hovered over it with your mouse instead of having to click through?
Something I was thinking about recently is the possibility of having “subcomments” on threads. I’ve seen it on other forums. That way, a thread isnt ‘derailed’ by slightly off-topic comments. So youo have a comment like this one, and then a smaller box opens up below it for direct responses and asides that arent entirely ‘on-topic’. It gives a different “Flow” to the reader.
Of course, we probably dont have enough users to make it worthwhile, but it might be an interesting addition (assuming this format would allow it)
Steamboater: You’re talking about “threaded” commenting. I have no idea if that could be implemented here, since we’re kind of at the mercy of Expression Engine’s built-in forum software, but I can certainly ask.
Um Steve…that was piffy making that suggestion. You know, that guy that has posted over 5700 times…you should really meet him sometime.
My only suggestion is a replacement for the emoticon…the soundicon (or audicon). Growling, moaning, screeching. That kind of thing.
I remember the good ol’ days when the best answer records out there were “The Real Roxanne” by Roxanne Shante and “I May Be a Gangsta, But I ain’t a Bitch” by whoever that group was responding to the Apache song.
