I’m sorry to post this here guys, just doing what I can to try and find it.  Thanks for having me!!

I have LOST my Red North Face Jacket and I have no clue where it is. I live in the North Asheville area, so perhaps it’s around here somewhere, although not guaranteed. It’s a mostly red rain shell with gray stripes on it and it has a little avalanche sensor on the left sleeve I believe. There should also be a toboggan, a neck warmer thing, and a gray or black pair of liner gloves in the pockets. In the chest pocket is a yellow sight compass, but any of this stuff could have been taken out and the jacket left. If you need any more information about the jacket, please get in touch with me.

There is a reward for it’s return. $$

THANK YOU for any help!!

For a nun you seem a little off the course you set for your life when you married Jesus.  I think some marriage counseling is in order. Here’s the fellow I recommend.

There’s a slightly overweight guy wielding big words and root passwords prancing around down in Spartanburg wearing a garment that vaguely matches your description.

Careful though. His sarcasm is deadly and he’s been known to lay waste to those who don’t respect his authoritay.

I think that tuckfard stole my socks, the red jacket and Piffy’s soul..Since he committed these crimes in Asheville he’ll probably get off with a 25 dollar bond..or a visit to the “Death Panel”..depending on if judge had a good lunch ..

By the way Robot Hal is my cousin..

Hey dude!  Give a man a break, I lost my expensive backpacking rain shell with lots of shit in it and I’m a broke mofo!  I can’t afford to buy another one right now, and backpacking in the rain sucks!  heh heh.  In the summer it’s not as bad, cuz you just take off your shirt and deal with it, but in the fall / winter, it gets cold at 5000 feet plus!!  =(

I realized that posting these ads would be a super long shot, but hey, at least I can say I tried.  I have lost some kayaking gear before and people have returned it.  The outdoor community here seems to be pretty honest.  However, that’s usually when my name is on the gear, and unfortunately, my name wasn’t on this jacket.  DOH!!  Talk about stupid.

But anyway, thought I’d try.

Thanks dude!!  It’s not the end of the world if I can’t find it, just have to work up the extra money to buy another one.  ::sigh::  Oh well, such is life I suppose.

Anyway man (Steve), how you been?  It’s Ryan Dodd.  Long time no “see!”

I just cleaned my entire house and had no luck finding a red jacket.  I’m now missing my long sleeve black t-shirt though which I wear all the time.

I’ve been missing a green “Dirty” era Sonic Youth shirt for years. Had one of the puppets on it. Miss that shirt.

Also noticed a week or so ago that I was missing my hilarious tongue-in-cheek “Small Johnson” shirt that I acquired back in 1994 when the “Big Johnson” shirts were all the rage amongst the jock-o-rama crowd.

It’s amazing the things you lose track of and don’t even notice. It totally kills the “don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone” song. Hell, I realized a month ago that I had two relationships with women that I didn’t remember for years and one of those girls was going to be my wife.

Well, ok, she wasn’t and maybe I didn’t remember all that. The point is still that I can’t ever remember losing something and immediately needing it back and there is even a bigger point to be made here, which is this:

Why in the name of all that is unholy and breathes death on children does Dodd need a jacket in the middle of the Dog Days of Summer? Is it really that chilly up in the firmly bourgy environs of North Asheville? Is there an early frost on the land, did the fates force your hand?

And only some of this is derived from the source material. I’ve been Too Long in the Wasteland.

Ah, and that is something else I miss. I wonder where it is now, that life I used to have?

Crap, I totally missed this reply and now it invalidates my entire piece. He needs it for fall and winter.

I would suggest you pawn that 13 string bass guitar of yours but I guess you need that for the funk.

There is something red in the creek by Beaverdam Road. Quarter mile east of the fire station. That was before the rain today.

haha, yeah bud, I don’t necessarily NEED the jacket right now, but it’s one of those things that you gotta plan for.  Kind of like getting health insurance BEFORE you get cancer or whatever.

And also, I backpack for at least two nights a week about 2-3 times a month, and you’d be surprised about how chilly it can get at 5,000 feet elevation plus at 10-11:00 pm in the rain.  It starting sprinkling the other night when I was camping up around Graveyard Fields and I would have been a bit cold away from the fire.  But the most significant importance of this particular rain jacket or any shell layer of clothing is to keep your other clothes dry.  I never bring more then about one change of clothes for a 2-3 day trip if that, and if all you have is wet clothes, even during the summer, it could suck.  Potentially.  Even though I never wear anything cotton while backpacking.

Funny story about stuff getting wet.  I was swimming down at the Lower Falls at Graveyard Fields on that same trip and did something really stupid.  It was super hot and I really wanted to dive in and forgot to take my head lamp out of my pocket.  So I dive right in and am thinking about how amazing the water feels when I realize my mistake.  OOPS!!  Needless to say, I quickly got out of the water and started drying it off.  Upon further inspection I realized that it was water resistant up to 3 meters, and still works just fine!  Shew, I got lucky there!  That’s the last thing I need to replace after already having to replace the jacket and various accessories.

Anyway, here’s the new jacket i’m looking at.  Not as pricey as my other one, and still nice.

And 13 string bass guitar??  haha, naah.  I just upgraded to a 5 string Warwick Corvette Standard about 2 years ago and I love it!  Just adds that many more options.  Although I must admit one day I would love to have a 6 string.  It would take ANOTHER period of adjustment and such which really sucks, but being able to play all those chords and such with that high “C” would definitely be cool.  One day . . . perhaps.

I’m good, at least in the sense that I know where all my clothes are.

How’ve you been? Stick around the forums and hang out. You’ll like it here, I think.
