I agree. “Taping” brings to mind voice-overs by Tom Bosley, et al, assuring us that “Happy Days was taped before a live audience” and the requisite quality of fare that followed. I don’t know why the medium looks so… tape-y… but I can’t even watch those Twilight Zone episodes that are on tape, as they don’t seem to come from another dimension at all, but rather a soundstage.

Ya need to lower your standards for the new crop of Asheville misfits..

No, the new crop needs to raise their standards. If you did that, you’d realize that Tetro wasn’t overrated. And who exactly was it overrated by? I mean apart from me.

And what does any of this have to do with the topic of this thread?

Welcome to the Bizarro world of Richey.

May I suggest your ‘ignore’ button, sir?

Has anyone here, besides Mr. Hanke, actually seen Moon Europa?

People say “filming” when they aren’t using film stock because “taping” conveys such a very different—and immediately inferior—idea. The term is incorrect, yes, but it’s still accepted and is likely to stay that way. (You’ll notice that for copyright purposes movies are still referred to as “motion picture photoplays.”) Technology has blurred the line so much that more and more of what you see—whether you see it on film or on digital projection—isn’t originating on film.
