How about some predictions and such for the upcoming year.  Well it started, but still a long way to go.  Here’s my picks:

AFC East: Patriots
AFC North: Steelers
AFC South: Titans
AFC West: Chargers
AFC Wildcard: Colts and Ravens

NFC East: Giants
NFC North: Vikings
NFC South: Saints
NFC West: Seahawks
NFC Wildcard: Eagles and Packers

Super Bowl pick: Chargers vs. Vikings. San Diego finally cashes in on their talent and win their first Super Bowl.

Seems like every year there is a bad team that rises up.  My guesses this year are the Packers (6-10 last year) and/or the Seahawks (4-12) in the NFC.  AFC is tough for the sleeper picks.  I was going to say the Texans (8-8), but they looked horrible at home.  I also thought the Bengals (4-11-1) had a chance…but they sucked as well.  It’s only week 1 so I’ll stick with that.

Seems like my biggest snubs would be the Dolphins, Panthers, Cardinals and Falcons who were all in the playoffs last year.  To add to the list of high expectations left out of my picks would be the Bears and Cowboys.

Growing up, my two favorite teams were the Saints and the Colts.  These were two of the worst teams in the league when I was little but always pulled for them.  Would love to see them in the Super Bowl and there’s a chance it could happen this year.

Packers maybe. We’ll see about the Seahawks, but I wouldn’t make any bets on that. The Cowboys will have a true test next week with the Giants, but they looked great against the Bucs. Then again, that’s like saying a cheeseburger looks great compared to a turd.

The Panthers looked ####### awful yesterday and the Bears were disappointing.
The Colts, for whatever reason, always always struggle against the Jags, so that’s no real indication.
The Pats are struggling against the Bills right now, but I just tuned in so I’m not sure what that’s about.
That Titans/Steelers matchup was an epic opening game. I was pretty thrilled with the Titans defense that game, even if they were ultimately overmatched.

In any case, I don’t get into predictions until after the first few games, so I’ll spare you anything beyond my Super Bowl pick:
Titan’s vs. Cowboys for a shocker, unless Tony overthRomo blows his wad again.

(That’s my prediction every year as those are my two favorite teams)

All of us failed to match our dreams of perfection. So I rate us on the basis of our splendid failure to do the impossible.

I’ve been following the NFL since I was 7 or so, and I can’t ever recall a year when there so many just plain horrible teams.  The Browns, the Bills (sorry Poofy Mc), the Rams, the Raiders, the Chiefs, the Lions, the Browns, Redskins, and Tampa Bay.  The 0-5 Titans also look really bad after having the best record in the AFC last year.  At least the Chiefs and Lions make a game of it before they lose. Yes, the Redskins have 2 wins, but their schedule is about to get really tough after next week and they beat the other crappy teams on the list, not to mention losing to the Lions.

As far as preseason guesses, the Bengals are looking real good so far.  I still think Seattle has a chance if they can stay healthy, a big if.  Very interested to see how things play out over the next few weeks.

I think it is time for the Cowboys to shake things up and fire good ol’ Wade Phillips.  Imagine if they brought in Cower or Shannahan.  Romo needs discipline and Phillips only provides a marshmallow soft ‘try harder’.

What the #### is going on there?! 0-5 going to New England next week too. I’d say the season is over, more or less.
Unless there’s drastic improvement I’d say goodbye to Fisher (probably).

As far as the Cowboys, I’d like for Phillips to stick around, maybe replace Wilson or Garrett. But in reality the root of the Cowboys issues start from the top down and have for 15 years: Jerry Jones. His super-inflated ego and heavy hand in the coaching staff is ludicrous.

Also, #### Tony Romo. Stats mean ####-all if you can’t play in a clutch situation.

Seriously, you expect some teams to come out of nowhere and others to unexpectedly drop, but the Titans are the only one on my previous list of suck that I can not figure out.  Their schedule has been tough, yes.  But they’re not even close in those games and their defense has given up more points than all but 1 other team in the league.  That other team would be the Rams, which is a very very scary reality.  I don’t get what happened there.  I read some chatter that Collins should be benched and Vince Young inserted as the replacement..good luck with that.

With you as a Cowboys fan, I guess I’m surprised you’re okay with Phillips.  Don’t get me wrong, if I could have any head coach over for dinner, he’d lead the list.  Just wondering what you see in him.  I think we agree that something needs to happen to within the organization to get this massively talented team to produce.  Jerry Jones is rapidly becoming the next Al Davis…good luck with that.
And yes, Romo is horrible.  I think there is a reason no real university recruited him and why he wasn’t drafted…he’s a retard with an ego.  Now, who does that remind me of…oh yeah…the forum retard.

There are 5 undefeated teams and 4 winless teams going into week 6.

After the weekend, I expect only 2 undefeated and 2 winless teams left out there.  If the Panthers lose to Tampa, expect their coach to be on his way out, probably before the season ends.

Speaking of teams with coaches with their jobs on the line during the season: Buffalo is getting very close as well as Washington.  If Washington lose to the winless Chiefs (which I expect they will), Zorn will be axed.  Somehow the Raider’s coach who has a possible felony assault charge against him for breaking his assistant’s jaw, not to mention probably the worst team in the league, has a secure position.

I heard this week that the Cowboys ensured Phillips is safe for the rest of the season.  I’d still like to hear Bobaloo’s thoughts on why he thinks that’s a good idea.

Sorry boater, I’m so hit and miss on the forums lately.

Basically, I don’t think Phillips is to blame for the Cowboys overall poor performance. If you look at there overall record I think they do well if you don’t include the postseason. There’s a lot of ego on the team and it’s nearly impossible for him to control it all. Keep in mind he does not make the hiring decisions in any way.
The short story is, again, Jerry Jones. He fuels the ego, he calls more shots than any owner really should and he’s made it clear he won’t back off. Until he learns his lesson look for the Cowboys to always be substandard.
One great example is what the focus for that team has been this season: The new stadium. Granted, Romo has taken a lot of the focus off of the stadium and made the focus his exceptional vortex of suckery, but the attention wasn’t on the team, it was on the facility. Classic Jones.

But none the less, I do love them so.

I hear you.  The stadium is obnoxious and their focus is way off.  Jones’ ego shone through on their first game where they literally crammed as many people as possible into the place just so they could set a new attendance record.  That ego did not quite take into account that 30,000 fans shoved into an area that should only hold 10k could potentially cause a problem.  A friend of mine was there and said that there was a very near riot since those 30k in the party area could not be accommodated to beer, food, bathrooms, oh, and couldn’t see the game they paid to go there in the first place, even on the largest video screen ever in the history of ever.

Someone was able to play Gears of War on that record breaking screen for several thousand dollars.
