Mr. Fobes had to enable the “Post to Blogwire” feature for my account before I could log in and make a post. I think they are still rolling this out slowly so they can see how it goes. Either way, I made history by being the first non-MXer to post some news. Neener.
I think I just heard a rumble ... I think it was the dominant paradigm shifting.
How long have you been waiting to actually use that phrase in conversation?

As if I wanted to have a negligible impact on deciding which information gets disseminated to the uninformed and surprisingly malleable faceless masses.
You gotta hand it to Fobes, though. He’s setting it up so that the MX can be quadruple the media center with half the work. Between using citizen ‘journalists’ and adopting the aggregator model, the MX will quickly become the go-to media outlet (if it hasn’t already) for the region while barely increasing overhead.

Not really, because sooner or later he is going to have to hire someone to moderate user submissions.
It’s only a matter of time before the loons start posting every single WorldNutDaily link they can find to the Blogwire.
And no, doing it with member moderation won’t work because of the ease with which sock puppet accounts can be registered here.
(PS: Mr. Fobes, if you are reading this, I have a communications degree and am looking for a work-from-home opportunity. I’m also relatively cheap.)

This was at least partially my fault. I showed him Fark.com during a meeting about online funding models.

If you’re feeling like a Pimp, Steve, go on and brush your shoulders off….
And while we’re making suggestions….
Hire Bugg back.
The MX’s music review section is lacking. Seriously lacking.
Look what kind of viewership Hanke generates. Just from the comment section on his blog alone I can tell he’s easily one of the most clickable employees of the MX.
No reason why that can’t be true for a MX music reviewer. Actually, it’s more of a sure thing. Why should I be going to Rolling Stone or Pitchfork or The Fader to read about music? By mixing national content with the abundant local fodder, something that is rare in the film aspect, you’re almost guaranteed high ad-generating click-through numbers.
And not only is Bugg controversial, but he’s good at what he does. Kinda like Hanke. I mean, Fuzztone rocks. It should be a part of the MX.
Whatever he wrote as a private citizen on the MX forums, surely it shouldn’t be held against Bugg and/or the general music loving WNC populace.

I’m certainly not taking credit for the idea, as I had nothing to do with the development beyond having an informal discussion about how Fark.com works with Fobes. Jason Shope—aka “Webmaster”—deserves all of the laurels and accolades here.

back off!
umm, wuts fuzztone?
Back off from what? I need a job and since Shad hasn’t accepted my resume yet I have to keep pimping myself out. We can’t all just hightail it to the rainbow festival and fall off the grid.
Also, is this supposed to be a live feature? If there are plans to run this on a fark-esque model, you won’t get many takers if it has been free and in the open.

I don’t think the Blogwire is supposed to be an exclusive, members-only kind of feature.
