Yeah, me too. Let’s hijack this thread and discuss various reasons for our love/hate of the Disclaimer.
What I really hate/like about the Disclaimer is when Google News picks up one of their articles and e-mails it to me as a valid Asheville news article. Nothing real has ever made me so angry about my current town. That the stories are even plausible sends a chill up my cortex.
the disclaimer is funny. hilarious, at times, in my opinion. i truly love the alibi, and many of the features and articles are funy, just because they are local in nature. like some of our Boarder art.
can those of you who be hatin’ articulate said blase?
I just find it to be a low rent version of The Onion, minus the wit and originality. The articles feel like warmed over, mad lib versions of Onion pieces with a smattering of Asheville references and personalities thrown in.
The Disclaimer is a local band. The Onion is on MTV. But the Disclaimer is a little rougher, could stand some polish, but its _real_, man, its local. They may not be the best jokes in the world, but they’re _our_ jokes.

I would certainly agree with that first part. It’s not aimed at a broad market, but is very specifically aimed at this part of the world. Most of it would not travel well. Sometimes the personalities of the local politicians and local celebrities or whatever aren’t fully comprehensible to me and I live here. (The fact that I don’t live in the city probably accounts for some of my bafflement, since there’s not that much point in me following the in-town politics all that closely.) I can’t imagine that the “Alibi” would make much sense from a distance.

As countless celebs from the A list all the way down to the D list come forth..Some had a positive experience with Lettermans sexploitations..Popular screen star Bruno stated ” Sure he was old and wrinkly, his thrust was weak and pathetic, but he made me laugh!!”
