Do you really want to get into an “I know more about music-local and national- than you” with me?

I was just informed that I have reached my quota for the year in the “talking about shitty music” category.

Sorry. See you in January.

I really liked their live show when they opened for OddStar at the Boiler Room.

This is not a ringing endorsement.

If I write a ringing endorsement on a forum, do I have to report if I’m being compensated? Or is that idiocy just for what for the moment are being called blogs?

I think you might be missing….

What?

But I am not talking about the shitty music.

No. I am not.

What do you mean, “this is covered by the quota”? Are you daft?

What? Where does it say that?

But I was just going to…

I can’t?

For how much?

No, I don’t think the chickens are in season. What does that…?

Oh, you have a quota, too. I see.

But why are you…

Oh.

Well, can I finish my…?

I can’t?

OK. Fine.

Touché! Now that was a clever and witty retort… you even found them in candy apple red.

I might have a harder time talking them up (for which I am not paid, nor was I asked to do) if they had chosen the moniker Delta Navigator, to be sure.

Speaking of car named bands, anyone going to see Relient K in Charlotte tomorrow night? Copeland are opening and their album ‘You Are My Sunshine’ is really growing on me.

The more vocal commentators probably don’t care, but members of The Nova Echo have some fairly impressive resumés, having played, written, recorded and gained credible recognition in practically any genre sans jazz fusion reggae.

They know what they’re doing.

I really want to talk more about Flock of Seagulls. Is it the dude’s crazy hairdo that sets them up for such ridicule? I mean, when the radio stations have ‘80s weekend, why is it that you have to put up with ‘Come on Eileen’ every hour on the hour but you seldom hear ‘Wishing’ by FoS, which was a much better tune?

Next time you want to drop a reference to total crap of the ‘80s, why not flog Wang Chung or Depeche Commode?

I will defend the greatness of The Fixx and Men Without Hats to my grave!

Kevin Rowland is a legend and you should not besmirch his name by comparing him to Flock of Seagulls.

Hey Mat Catastrophe, I have been reading your shitty posts about Asheville music for years.  I am just curious, who the #### are you and what gives you the right to say what music in Asheville is good?  What band were/are you in, just curious? I am sure you guys were “great.”  I have read your retarded posts since Ashevillerock.com through this ThisCityCanBurn and now you are on here?  Seriously man, come out of your bedroom!  There is life out here!  It is great!!

Hey, Yo!!, I am glad you have been reading my shitty posts about Asheville music for years. I am just curious, who the #### are you (and why did you actually type # signs instead of the word ####) and what gives you the right to say who can or cannot have an opinion of music, in Asheville or elsewhere? What band are you in that lets you have the exclusive take on “good” and lets you point the cliched finger of “not-a-musician-so-can’t-talk-about-music” at me?

Which is funny, since I do actually play guitar and I was actually in a “band” in Asheville. I suppose we were more of an art project, since we didn’t rehearse and I don’t think we ever played more than two shows with the same lineup.

Even if none of that were true, does that mean that most people who don’t play instruments or are in bands can’t decided what is good and what is crap? Because if that is the case, then you can take your ultra-elitist “music is only for the musicians” nonsense back to whatever emocore hole you wiggled out from underneath.

(PS: Also, pay attention, goon. I moved almost six months ago, which means my self-imposed policy of not saying anything ill of Asheville bands is null and void. If the original A-rock forums were up, or if the emo kids hadn’t taken their site completely offline, I think you would find that I rarely, if ever, said anything disparaging about any Asheville band or musician, no matter how utterly shitty.)
