I really love this one. A true guitar “solo” - no other instruments to interfere with the awesome majesty of six strings and speed.

The Guitar Solo, by Freelance Subversion from the EP “The End of Everything You Hate.”

Not my absolute favorite, but since I just listened to it yesterday with the boy (and then immediately rocked it on Guitar Hero):
starting at 5:45

Certainly not the best ever, but it I have the same excited, visceral reaction I had when I first heard it in high school.

I must say that I am extremely pissed that no one is listening to the solo I posted. So, here’s one I have always liked.

The solo starts promptly at 3:01, but the really hot part is at 3:23-3:25. If you can’t hear why, then you are not a serious musician.

Still gives me the chills after 30 years.

Other than this, anything that Stacy Sutherland played on.

Duane Allman’s solo on Mountain Jam from the Eat a Peach LP, beginning shortly after Berry Oakley’s bass solo and running thru the Will the Circle be Unbroken tease.  Best slide solo ever!

It’s not like there is a local Sunday paper handing out free zeitgeist anymore.
