Who wants to be a moderator (eventually)?

As our forums grow, we’ll be looking for user-moderators. At first, user-moderators will be assigned to a single section, and will serve as a kind of gardener, weeding out bad posts and planting the seeds of new threads.

It may be a month or so before we take the plunge, but I thought I’d ask and gauge the existing interest among the users. If you’d like to be considered, please state your case below.

I wouldn’t mind helping out with moderation.  Just not for the politico, fashion, parenting, sports or music threads as i’m not very interested in those.  These are the subjects i do worst in on Cash Cab.  I believe in minimal ‘moderation’ wherever possible except with explicit rules (like spam), so maybe i don’t have the police gene you may be looking for.

Thanks, Zen. You’re certainly on the short-list, and you seem to have the right philosophy. We’re not looking for skull-busters, just people who can keep the forums a reasonably sane place.

Steve,

I’d be willing to act as a section moderator. As for stating my case, you can check out my LinkedIn profile (link below), if you’re so inclined. I’ll let my previous posts and professional track record speak for itself.

My interests are local, The Written Word, or Food.

I hope I can be of assistance. Thanks for the consideration.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Zen.

Hey, it might be fun.

I’m talking to Steve about all the juicy perks that come with the title.

I do not want to become moderator. In fact, I do not want to be moderated.

The March towards my 500th post continues!

Power. Internet power. Oodles and oodles of it. And maybe I’ll take the two of you out for a beer or coffee or something sometime.

Steve, how long will you continue your admin duties, now that you are leaving for good? Will your A&E;replacement on the paper also replace you here?

We’re still working that out. For the foreseeable future, I’ll be the forum admin, though. I don’t know what, if any, role Rebecca will want to play in the forums, but I expect she’ll be moderating the A&E;blogs soon.

Jason Bugg has over 500 posts.

The very fabric of the universe is now wrinkled.

I think the fabric of the universe is still a starched sheet of smooth euclidian geometry considering that every one of his posts are about him.

Jason, please post the math that proves the above hypothesis.

Not that I doubt you, I would just like to see how you arrived there.
