This is the woolly adelgid in case you hadn’t recognized it on your hemlock trees.  It’s an invasive and destructive pest to both our native Canadian and Carolina hemlock trees.

Spring is the best time to treat infested trees, and here is a good list, though i’ve had great luck with Appalachian Arborists who also treated the trees at the Botanical Gardens.
