You’re right. “Teen Spirit” will be covered and sang at weddings like “Yesterday” and “Something”.

I liked Nirvana. I really did. What they were was a kick in the ass to a music community that was needing one, but they were anything but innovative. They took The Pixies’ formula and a riff lifted from a Boston song and started a revolution that was already burning out when its figurehead blew his brains out on that April day in 1994.
But to compare Nirvana, a band who was no better than the sum of their collective influences and downright derivative at times to band like The Beatles, whose music is so good that it’s actually a tired cliche to say how good they are, is criminally stupid.
Also, the idea that the band would still matter today because other bands from their time are still touring is just strange and like comparing apples and oranges. Poison and Warrant, two bands that Nirvana proved irrelevant in the long run are still touring, also. So what does that mean about Nirvana?
