So, he speaks at least two additional languages? Hardly something to be ashamed of.

How many does McCain speak? I’m still waiting on that. Maybe he speaks a little Vietnamese? Maybe a little French. I’d really like to know.

Reasonably often in one of my companies, I do business transactions with non-English speakers—two years of Spanish many years ago and spending 8 months in El Paso while writing a book has given me enough Spanish to get by with the majority, who are Hispanic. But a couple of months ago, I had a Vietnamese couple who spoke little English. I surprised myself and them by remembering a considerable amount of that language from my Vietnam service. It turned into a quite pleasant experience.

However, I AM fluent in several foreign dialects that many readers here may not be (and have written books about them)—such languages as RUBY, BASIC, REBOL, PROLOG, etc. I get by in C++, LISP, and certainly have enough Python to find a good time and ask for a beer.

I am sure McCain has more Vietnamese than I and Obamination (thanks for that term, William) more French and Progressive Speak but, darned if I can’t code RINGS around them both in PHP!!

LOL, good ones Ralph the Great One. Here is one of my own, spoken in Sapnish to make Obama happy.

And in Russian, then Red Chinese, for our socialist friends:

You must have meant for our Republican friends since Republicans since Nixon have been the biggest fans of China. Not that China has ANYTHING to do with socialism, but I’m sure you dont read a lot of books or anything, so I wouldn’t expect you to comprehend that.

Please call into the Matt Mittan show next time Jason sits in. I want to crap my pants laughing when he tears you a new one, and then leave my pants on your doorstep.

Are you an insane homeless person who lives in pritchard park?

Considering he has admitted he does not speak a foreign language, you have just demonstrated his teleprompter skills. Take that away and it would have been ... “um ... um ... er .... well .... change .... um ... er .. er ....” Now just how hypocritical is he going to look when the illegal Democrat voter (the ones who attain driver licenses in states like NC and register to vote at the same time) realizes he was faking it.

So, I show you a video which indicates he can speak at least some Spanish, and you present this as evidence that he CAN’T speak a foreign language? Wow ... that’s brilliant.

In the quote you’ve referenced, I suspect that Obama was saying that he’s not fluent in any other foreign language. I’ve lived in Central America, and I’ve studied Spanish there. I also studied German for two years. I can read and speak a little of both, but I’m by no means fluent and wouldn’t present myself as such. Perhaps Obama is just trying to be honest and humble, and not trying to give ammunition to people who, like you, are looking for anything and everything into an excuse to bring out the long knives.

Your criticism of him in this thread—the whole theme of the thread, in fact—is that he’s a charlatan because he didn’t try to speak German on his European tour. Yet, when faced with actual evidence that he is actually somewhat educated and is making a good faith attempt to reach out to non-native English speakers, your response is an angry and defeated cry that there must be some lie somewhere. It’s really charming.

Please keep it up, and please keep avoiding my question about whether or not you were/are the poster known as Nam Vet. I think it shows all of us a little of your true character.

Babelfish does not work well for teleprompters since it does not provide a really good grammatical translation. So when Obama wants to give the appearance of being able to speak Spanish, his messages should not rely on internet translators and instead should use actual human translators. He can then appear to make sense to those listening to him :)

Who said anything about Obama using Babelfish? It’s Billy-boy I was talking about.

... just pointing out something about babelfish and why your candidate shouldn’t use it :)

Does he? I doubt it. He can probably afford translators thanks to the millions of people who believe in his message and contributed to his campaign.

And he’s not “my” candidate. I’m not wild about him. I just think McCain is a poseur, and don’t want to see him win. He doesn’t represent my interests at all.

Stevey boy, I will bet dollars to donuts that Obama read a teleprompter for that grab for the Hispanic vote. After he had some lessons in pronunciation. I seriously doubt he can go to Mexico and conversationally converse with the natives there. But, hey, Obama’s the “messiah”, right? He can do anything. -:)

No, I am not the poster formerly known as Nam Vet nor have I ever been. I have been “travelah either numerically or with alpha characters since I first saw the primitive internet years ago.

My criticism with Obama is that he used a practiced speech using Spanish to give the impression he speaks fluent Spanish (his message was quite fluent, yes?) when in fact he stated he does not speak any foreign language. The hypocrisy which you have yet to address is that he admonished the American people for supposedly not doing what he himself cannot do. He is a fraud, plainly put. You can suspect whatever you wish about his quoted correction, but you cannot change his words. He stated he does not know any other languages and he is embarrassed by it. What is less than brilliant is not recognizing he functions by teleprompter even after he admits he doesn’t speak a foreign language.

Of course he can afford translators. So can I but thats not the point. If you are going to vote for Obama, he is your candidate just as McCain is mine even though I can hardly stand him. I simply cannot stand the leftist-liberal activist even though he will probably become President (unless he wets his pants or something or loses his teleprompter.)

Boy it must be easy to have an argument with someone when you argue about things they have never said or even implied.

I guess it must be like that since you have a stalker-like crush on McCain.
