Starting off conversations with a bang is how I met my first wife.

Why yes I have a blog. What? You want to see my underwear? That’s over the line, sir.

Is ending the conversation prematurely how you lost her?

Mostly just refusing to talk anymore. That and she wanted me to give up the writing thing and go get “a real job”.

Has anyone seen how people redefine terms to suit their perspective?  For example, Democrat is taken to mean liberal which is taken to mean leftie.  So what does that make conservative Republicans, fascists? I believe firmly in the notion that labels tend to separate.  They are convenient catch phrases or words to denote contempt.  You can really start off a conversation with a bang by insulting a few people.

Labels also define and identify. Let me demonstrate your bias:

Democrat = liberal
Conservative Republican = fascist

What you should have stated without your bias was ...

Democrat = liberal
Republican = conservative

Instead you poisoned the well.

If they had points on this board, you should get double for that. :)

Don’t know about poisoning any wells.  Labels lie.  Didn’t you get that?  I’m certain you do?  If you want to talk about my bias best start with a look at your own.  I’m not making a political statement here. Labels certainly do define and identify but they over generalize which was the point I was attempting to make.

I don’t hide my bias. I simply pointed out your own.

I didn’t think so but I could be wrong ..................................

as a vocal supporter of such a failed administration and standing by your party even as things are flaming out on both domestic and foreign fronts ... yes it does remind me of that ...

this seemed more childish ... but that is just me

Labeling is done by all for the same purpose, to negate the words of those we disagree with. As I stated, I am not making a political statement thus where does bias come into play?  It does not.  what I am saying is simple truth, once the labeling commences the conversation ends.  Discussions ought to have some chance of resolution. There can be no resolution when the debaters have created a conflicted relationship.

Differences of opinion are essential to finding solutions to most problems but they need to be proffered with respect, not arrogance punctuated with convenient LABELING OR NAME CALLING!

“A name is a label, and as soon as there is a label, the ideas disappear and out comes label-worship and label-bashing, and instead of living by a theme of ideas, people begin dying for labels… and the last thing the world needs is another religion.” - Richard Bach

I have not been much of a vocal supporter of the Bush administration. It would be curious for you to post some of my “Bush support”. I am also not a registered Republican.

The bias was demonstrated in my post with the example. Again, labels help identify who you are and what you believe (in a general sense).

Yeah, I caught that.  I don’t care to be identified for the purpose of being stuffed in a box, thank you.
