Here’s this week’s pull list.
I’m just gonna keep posting this till Superstar goes to the damn comic store. Maybe then I’ll have someone to talk to. The rest of you have no taste.

Uncanny X-Men 502
Guardians of the Galaxy 5
Mighty Avengers 18 (God I love Nick Fury)
Amazing Spider-Man 572
Thor 10
Secret Invasion: Thor 2
Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam 2
Skrulls vs. Power Pack 3

I must say, this new arc for Spidey -“New Ways to Die”- has been one of the best in a long while. A loooong while. After 25 years I nearly dropped this comic from my list after the “Brand New Day” shitstorm.

Really? I hate the way it happened, but I thought the best thing for the character of Spider-Man was to move him back to the Lee-Romita heydays.

I remember saying to my LCS guy that I didn’t care how it happened, but it needed to be done. Then I read One More Day, and I thought that they made the character of Spider-Man out to be a coward and a quitter.

Correction, I was referring to “One More Day”.
Y’know, I really have no idea what the main purpose of the whole thing was. It’s not so damned hard to revert back to those days without having an incredibly stupid retcon that, as you correctly state, basically made Peter Parker into a coward. For God’s sake, Aunt May can’t live forever.
It just seems like the only thing that came out of it was fixing Millar’s godawful mistake of revealing his secret identity. That and getting rid of Mary Jane.
In any case, this being Marvel, sooner or later they’ll make it ludicrous again and in 5 years we’ll have another retcon.
I hate retcons!
Now if they can only fix the X-Men, I’ll be happy.

I’m not an X-Men fan at all, but I thought that the closest the X-Men came to being “fixed” was during Morrison’s run. That was a book that was worth reading. The new team (Brubaker and Fraction) seem to be gelling nicely, so the book should be on its way. Now if Greg Land would stop tracing—I mean drawing the title it’d be interesting.

I’ll take your Greg Land and raise you one Simone Bianchi.

I didn’t know Land was a tracer, but after reading that I went back through the latest issue and noticed quite a few similar (read: exactly the same) facial expressions throughout. As a matter of fact, Dazzler and Emma Frost are exactly the same person.

Simone Bianchi isn’t as bad as Land.

Search around for the Greg Land Deconstruction Project. He blatantly traces hollywood actors and porn magazines.

Probably not, but his art looks like shit, all his colors are shades of brown, gray and olive, and it pisses me off that people think he’s a great artist.
If you’re so inclined, look at the issues of Wolverine with the Sabretooth/Evolution arc, particularly #52. It really looks like hell.

I dig his stuff. His work on the Shining Knight miniseries (part of Grant Morrison’s Seven Soldiers of Victory epic) was pretty awesome.
