Opus Grey seems to be one of the only bands in the area that plays in the “pure” rock vein (i.e. not artsy/metal), plus the lead guitarist (Duncan?) is s-c-a-r-r-y good: myspace.com/opusgrey
Its a selfish plug. And our sound has changed drastically from what is on our myspace page, but we are out of Raleigh originally and I moved to Asheville a couple years ago so we are trying to make our way into the Asheville scene.
As you can see, I’ve run both of the suggested bands this week. If you want your band in Listening Party, your friend’s band, the band of a guy you used to know through some other guy you used to work with, like, five years ago.
C’mon people; it’s either this, or I go back to picking random bands on MySpace.
I would like to be considered for the Listening Party. I am self-releasing my solo CD LOVEDARTS next week, and will be featured on Asheville Bands myspace page….a great resource for all by the way, as they have recently begun to rotate both established and up-and-coming Asheville acts through their friends list, resulting in a cool place for networking and reaching local music fans…... http://www.myspace.com/jasonrossmartin

Amy Rae Stupka. She’s a friend of mine, and I love her voice. She put a CD out several months ago.
Several years ago, Amy Rae sang happy birthday to me at an impromptu surprise party at College Street Pub. It was kind of surreal, because I had actually gone there to do a live show review of her and her band.
On an unrelated note, I’m putting together this week’s Listening Party this afternoon, so get your suggestions in soon.
