It’s a mountain tradition to put references to other threads anywhere we want. Stop trying to change our ways, outsider!

“kowtow”. I always thought it was cow-tow and it had something to do with cows and agriculture.
come to find out from the internets it is from mandarin chinese meaning to “touch the head to the ground” in submission or something. how about that.
I figured it had something to do with towing cows.

Now that I have kids, I’ve had to tone down my yelling at stupid drivers when in the car. So instead of the same, tired old cusswords, I have found it a lot of fun to say, “Get the frack out of the way you friggin jerkwad!”
Other than that, I really like the word ‘parsimonious’, and throwing it out in a casual conversation usually earns some odd looks.

That reminds me of how my mom would curse in front of me and my freinds.
“Dummyhead” was often employed while driving. I think it was her literal translation of the German “Dumkoph ”

ripping someone a new one
a brutal, strange, yet somehow funny way to describe berating someone…where the hell did it come from?
