Has anyone out there read local artist/crafter Suzie Millions’ new book The Complete Book of Retro Crafts: Collecting, Displaying & Making Crafts of the Past? Lark just released it, and it seems to be well worth the $15 cover price.

She had a table at the Twin 22 Record showcase last week, and my wife went positively nuts over her beer-can reindeer. (I bought her a PBR can one, in honor of the ghost of binge-drinking past.)

Anyone care to share their thoughts on Millions’ crafts?

Ok, i’m going to get charged with peppering the forum with weird photographs (and i’m guilty), but i haven’t read Suzie’s book.  I just intend to.  In the meantime, here’s a bit of Suzie nostalgia.  This is the fender of a car she had and i thought i’d share it.  Leave it to her to turn an automobile into a gameshow:

I think we need all the weird-photo peppering we can get.

i have seen her book.
while i applaud her efforts and interest in ‘outsider’ crafts..
i would not buy the book myself.
the crafts do belong with some people who appreciate the look of them and their simple yet obvious found object tackiness, but it is not for everyone.
