Spring Break is just around the corner—here’s a sample of camp offerings

Asheville Arts Center grabs the limelight this year with two spring-break performance camps. “Once Upon a Time ...” is an exploration of fairy tales old and new for young ones age 2-6, and “Lights, Camera, Action!”, for kids 6-15, teaches movie-making from script to screen. Asheville Community Theatre offers a spring break camp.

• The Asheville Jewish Community Center will offer a week of Spring Break day camps April 13-17 for kindergarteners through 5th graders. Each day has a different theme, including a nature-filled field trip to Grandfather Mountain! All kids welcome. Asheville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Outdoor Programs will offer its Asheville Teens Outside Spring Break Camp April 13-17, for kids age 10-14. Hiking, paddling, camping, mountain biking. Buncombe County Parks, Greenways and Recreation Services will offer a week of spring-break activities at Leicester Community Center from April 13-17, for rising 1st graders through rising 8th graders. For more information, call Grace Young at (828) 250-4265.

The North Carolina Arboretum hosts a Spring Adventure Camp for kids in 2nd through 5th grade, including lots of walks in the newly blooming woods and field trips to the Botanical Gardens, the Cradle of Forestry, and the River Arts District.
