A truly explosive -- and potentially very controversial -- documentary about Operation Condor. The name may sound like a 1970s spy yarn, but the reality is far more chilling than even the bleakest representatives of that genre. Condor was the code name given to a secret network of Latin American dictatorships working together to stamp out leftist political dissidents. The real controversy, however, will stem from the apparent involvement of the U.S. government (which was then seeking to prevent the spread of communism) and Interpol. Interviews with dissidents who were "detained" and tortured by secret police units are horrific enough, but pale in comparison to interviews with their captors -- including one man who delights in recounting his techniques of torture -- who brazenly view themselves as pioneers in the "war on terrorism." Not to be missed.
