Here's another film that's frankly too long for its own good (and this is the short version). But Final Solution still manages to be a powerful indictment of the violence between Muslims and Hindus in India, especially concerning the "mandate of hate" gained by the hard-line conservative Hindu political party, which helped put the Muslim population at the mercy of the Hindus. The film scores its best points by not simply revealing the persecution of the Muslim community, but by showing how a political campaign can be waged and won on fear and hate (sound familiar?). More disturbingly, the film offers evidence of how the hate spreads even to the young -- on both sides.
