Spin (NR)
Genre: Fantasy
Directed by: Jamin Winans
Starring: Hayz II, Raymond Andrew Bailer, Aaron Strobel, Brian Taylor

This clever short film kicks off April's selection of Twin Rivers Media Festival award-winning films. A story is little more than a simple conceit, told without dialogue -- thereby (consciously or not) following the dictates of Roman Polanski that short films should have no dialogue -- and made with an attitude obviously picked up from Robert Rodriguez (writer-director Jamin Winans boasts that he "penned, shot, chopped and scored" the film).

A fellow billed as the DJ (Hayz II) arrives on a scene with his turntables and other audio impedimenta and witnesses an accident, which he then proceeds to try to correct in a most fantastic manner. It's also a correction that proves no easy task. Done with a good deal of invention and a nice central performance from Hayz II, it's a beguiling little work that bodes well for Winan's next film, 11:59, which is slated to premiere at the Twin Rivers Media Festival.
