It's rare that I'm at a loss for words, but this particular ... whatever-it-is called TV Carnage: A Sore for Sighted Eyes leaves me more than a little perplexed. Oh, I know -- broadly speaking -- what it is: about 70 minutes of bizarre clips from movies and TV shows and adverts and PSAs and infomercials that have been stitched together to accent their weirdness. Fair enough. I can make a stab at the point to it all -- to prove that the world is seriously unhinged, possibly terminally so. Beyond that, I can't tell who made it or how.
I ventured to their Web site, found that Sore appears to be the fifth in a series of such concoctions. The links that might have explained anything told me I didn't have permission to access them. This may be a dodge to prevent pursuing the makers of these curios, which have to be the very definition of copyright infringement. Or it may simply be a way to enhance the mysteriousness of the series. Who knows? I do not.
All I can say with certainty is that the assemblage is amusing, appalling and occasionally a little frightening when you pause to consider that it reflects the world we live in. I don't know if it's mesmerizingly awful or just mesmerizing or just awful. It is, however, different.
