Asheville City Council brief

At its June 23 meeting, Asheville City Council adopted a 201-page plan aimed at cutting emissions. The plan addresses municipal upgrades to buildings, transportation systems and waste disposal. To see the entire plan, go here.

Council also:

• Approved the refurbishment of the Public Works building on South Charlotte Street as a “one-stop-shop” for developers working through the permitting process.
• Delayed the appointment of Dale Joyner to the URTV Board until board unrest can be looked at by the city’s Boards and Commissions Committee.
• Paid $5,000 to extend the option to purchase the 51 Biltmore site for six months. McKibbon Hotel Group, which also paid $5,000 to property owner Public Interest Projects for the extension, reported that it was having trouble securing funding, due to a slump in the hotel market.

What the h–l was the committee who recommended her thinking?????
The mystery man’s list of past infractions poses troubling “issues” with Joyner, who appears to be a loose cannon.

Alan Rosenthal is the same guy that was in that hit piece about URTV on WLOS.

He’s a “retired” private investigator who always mentions Dial and her husband Herb ‘Slugger’ Johnson.

I would bet dollars to donuts that he’s in the employ of Dial and Johnson. From what I’ve seen of their character, it seems logical.

The character assassination of Ms. Joyner, when she was not there to defend herself, is just their speed.

    1. Joyner has already committed character suicide.

    2. Nothing prevented Joyner from being present at the city council meeting. Why was she not there? Council was prepared to vote on her appointment and she was a no-show. Thanks to Dr. Mumpower for pulling this item of the consent agenda for closer scrutiny. It sure deserves it.

  4. LOL “Bob” aka, concerned, Tired, etc. ……….

Would that I had known the brilliant Mr. Rosenthal in the past controversies…but first had the pleasure of meeting him only a week ago…and would love to “hire” him, but he’s ethical about not doing anything for which he is not licensed in N. C., (ethics being something many folks don’t grasp). The monumental work he put into figuring out the shenanigans with URTV and it’s Board is commendable. Had the ED treated him respectfully, he might have chosen a different approach or his suspicions might not have been roused. If I were doing something underhanded, this is one person I’d hate to have looking into my doings.

No one stopped Joyner from attending the council meeting…my guess is she / they thought her appointment was a slam dunk…now given all that was revealed, it’s more embarressment than slam dunk.

BTW, I’ll contrast my husband’s past record against Joyner anyday. A retired military/ US Public Health Service physician, who was 100% disabled due to contracting encephalitis while in practice…NEVER had any issues with the law beyond a couple of speeding tickets. contrast thisto Joyners long list of law issues.

Herbert “Slugger” Johnson, has NEVER assaulted anyone and the charge that his raised his fist to Joyner when she attacked my camera , when we had a perfect lawful right to be filming in a lobby paid by public funds is flat out ludicrous. He did defend me by yelling at her to take her hands off my camera. Most men who are norml will defend their wives.

Thank’s Bob for the opportunity to “again” tell my side.
