(UPDATED with video) Building a bridge on Biltmore Avenue
Construction crews work hard replacing the Biltmore Avenue bridge that crosses the Swannonoa River, on Wednesday, March, 10. Photos by Jonathan Welch. Video by Pattiykat.

Here’s what video producer Pattiykat says: “The NC DOT has taken on an aggressive approach to completely replacing the Biltmore Avenue Bridge. The first of 6 spans, weighing in at 140 tons each, was maneuvered into place this afternoon. Two more will be fitted into place this week, with three more set on top of the first three while the remains of the old bridge are demolished. The plan is to have Biltmore Avenue open to traffic four months after the bridge was closed, at the end of April.”
