The Pink Beds loop off 276 in the Pisgah National Forest is a repository of mountain bogs, fields of ferns, and mushrooms. While there is some dispute as to the actual distance of the actual loop (reports range from 4.3 to 6+ miles), it's an amazing WNC hiking spot to visit (when it's not flooded). To view recent Pink Beds photos and flora / fungus discussion, visit this Facebook page.(open to public comments/viewing). Thanks to Alan Muskat, Juliet Blankespoor, Scott Dean, Josh Kelly (biologist), members of the Asheville Mushroom Club, et. al. for their insights and commentary.
