A march and vigil tonight will mark the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the demonstration will memorialize "those who have been killed as a result of transphobia" and seek "to bring attention to the unrelenting violence endured by the transgender umbrella community."
On March 17, a man — reportedly shouting homophobic and racist slurs — stabbed a Club Metropolis employee. The crime has sparked a community reaction, including plans for a benefit. The APD is not qualifying the incident as a hate crime, and the suspect was released March 21.
