Pro Bikes of West Asheville is not only the most popular bike shop in WNC, it’s also the area’s first and only femaleowned and operated bike shop. Marty Gallagher, who came to Asheville from Montgomery, Ala., in 1997, started at Pro Bikes as a part-time salesperson and in two years was the full-time manager. She acquired the business itself last year.
And she’s already showing the boys a thing or two: Pro Bikes was picked as best bike shop in the Mountain Xpress “Best of 2005” poll, and won a similar honor from Asheville Citizen-Times readers. Xpress voters also judged Marty’s shop the best place in WNC to have your bike repaired – thanks to its top-notch mechanics.
An expert biker, Marty has participated in numerous races and literally dozens of century rides (100 miles) throughout WNC. But regardless of whether you’re a hard-core biker like Marty or merely a weekend enthusiast, riders of all levels and ages can be assured of stellar service and great gear at Pro Bikes.
