“What is our favorite meal of the day?” That’s the question Belinda Raab and her daughter, chef April Moon Harper, asked three years ago when they opened the doors of Sunny Point Café in West Asheville. Today, with three years behind them, their small restaurant serves the answer – “breakfast” – to Asheville and her visitors at a breakneck pace seven days and fi ve nights a week. April laughs when remembering the early brainstorming about the restaurant. “When we conceived of Sunny Point, we imagined a small, sleepy, neighborhood bakery/restaurant serving items made from local, organic ingredients. We anticipated being open fi ve days a week, closing at 2 p.m., and walking out the door at 2:30. It’s funny, really.”

Though they still source most of their ingredients locally and organically, not much else is the same. These women in business are now serving breakfast and their second favorite meal, lunch, even at night. “Our evening and catering business is where we are really focusing now. So if you crave hot cakes or huevos even at 9 p.m., we’ve got you covered.”
