AC-T: Duke Energy smokestack being demolished

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Tuesday that the oldest smokestack is in the process of being demolished at Duke Energy’s plant in Skyland, south of Asheville.

“For folks that are driving in to Western North Carolina and folks that have lived down in South Asheville and drive into downtown every day, when these stacks are gone I think it is going to be a noticeable change to the landscape coming up Interstate 26,” said Jason Walls, Duke’s district manager for the Asheville area.
